Product Description

A curated kit built around a natural Narmadeshwara Shivling — a river-formed stone from the Narmada River, one of the seven sacred rivers of India. Each stone is unique in shape, colour, and texture. The kit includes everything required to establish a simple home practice: a brass Naga (snake), a hand-cast Shakti idol, a brass diya, Ganga Jal, pure sandalwood oil, and vibhuti. Presented in a keepsake box with a printed ritual guide.

Why It Matters

The Narmadeshwara Shivling is among the most revered objects in Shaivite tradition — and uniquely, it requires no Prana Pratishtha (consecration ritual) before worship, as it is considered self-consecrated by the river. This makes it the most accessible ritual object for someone establishing a home practice for the first time. The kit removes every barrier: you don't need to know what to buy, where to get it, or how to begin.

Your Sankalpa

For the intention of beginning a home practice. This is your altar, if you want it to be.

About Narmadeshwara

The Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh is considered one of the seven sacred rivers of India — and uniquely, every stone in the Narmada is considered a Shivling by tradition. The stones most sought after are the naturally smooth, oval river stones shaped by centuries of current — these are the Narmadeshwara Shivlings. No two are identical; each is formed by water and time alone. What makes them particularly accessible is their status as Swayambhu — self-manifested. Unlike a carved or installed Shivling, a Narmadeshwara stone is considered already consecrated by the river itself and requires no Prana Pratishtha ritual to begin worshipping. This makes it the most friction-free sacred object for establishing a home practice. Families, individuals, and renunciates across India have kept these stones for generations.

Care Instructions

The Narmadeshwara Shivling requires no special care beyond keeping it clean — wipe with a soft dry cloth. It can be bathed in water or milk during practice. The brass items will develop a natural patina; clean with a dry brass cloth if desired. Store Ganga Jal in the sealed vial away from direct sunlight. Replace sandalwood oil and vibhuti as needed — these are available widely.

The river's current shapes these stones into their distinctive oval form over millennia. Unlike installed Shivlings in temples, a Narmadeshwara Shivling is considered self-consecrated (Swayambhu) and does not require a priest or Prana Pratishtha ritual before worship. You can simply bring it home and begin.
